Hypnosis is a powerful, yet simple, tool to create change. Clinical Hypnosis is a state of deep relaxation in which you are always aware of what you are doing and always remain completely in control over how deeply into a trance state you go. In this trance state, the conscious - negative, critical - mind is suspended while the subconscious - creative, imaginative - mind becomes more available and open to suggestion. It is at this subconscious level that true changes and improvements are made. Research has shown that the mind does not distinguish between a real event and an imagined one. When watching a scary movie, we feel fright, when watching a sad movie, we feel emotional. When we recall a particularly pleasant event in our lives, we may find ourselves smiling and reliving the experience with a sense of happiness. This is a common example of our creative, imaginative, subconscious mind at work.
During hypnotherapy, the subconscious mind is clearly more suggestible and open to imagery. Through guided imagery and planted suggestion, changes can be made, habits broken, new habits instilled. Hypnotherapy is particularly successful with Pain Management, Anxiety and Phobias, Depression, Self-esteem, Goal -setting and Procrastination, and getting rid of unwanted habits. We can work together to decide if Hypnotherapy is a good option or adjunct to your therapy.
